JOB SUMMARY:

We seek a dynamic individual to oversee the programs in the department of occupational therapy, direct the Master of Occupational Therapy Program and teach at the graduate level in the program. The successful candidate will have a terminal degree as well as a strong background and clinical experience in physical, cognitive, and/or other areas of general rehabilitation practice. This may include the adult and/or pediatric population and will include assessment, treatment, and management of disorders typically seen in these populations. Experience in assistive technology, social policy, professional issues, and/or advocacy are preferred, but not required.

The Director will report directly to the Associate Provost/Dean of SEHHS. The Director will oversee that faculty demonstrate the ability to creatively engage students in didactic and experiential learning opportunities, and collaborate with the Associate Provost/Dean of SEHHS, other faculty members of the Occupational Therapy Department in addition to departments critical to the success of the Occupational Therapy Department such as Enrollment and Marketing.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for the management and administration of the entire OT Program, including scheduling of courses, planning, evaluation, budgeting, selection of faculty and staff, maintenance of accreditation, and commitment to strategies of professional development.
  • Pending program need this position may teach a maximum of six credits annually which will be determined in consultation with the Associate Provost.
  • Participate in departmental and institutional meetings, committees, and functions as necessary and appropriate.
  • Advise MOT students in academic, fieldwork, and professional issues.
  • Participate in the admissions process, which may include Open Houses, communicating with prospective and/or accepted students, and interviewing students as requested.
  • Work collaboratively with OT faculty for program assessment and student learning outcomes.
  • Oversee resolution of any problems that arise with students and/or associated faculty.
  • Maintain program morale and motivate faculty.
  • Lead the development of the assessment plan for the OT.
  • Oversee the OTB program and work collaboratively with the OTD program.
  • Develop and implement robust training program for all faculty (fall and part-time) utilizing technology and collaborative learning strategies
  • Work collaboratively with Associate Provost/Dean of SEHHS and other OT faculty to ensure program meets accreditation standards.
  • Engage in a process of formative and summative course evaluation to enhance the student learning experience.
  • Engage in appropriate and relevant professional development.
  • Maintain professional licensure.
  • Maintain an active presence on the campus including attendance at student events.
  • Oversee and participate in program and curriculum development.
  • Attend faculty and other University meetings.
  • Attend all major University events (e.g. Commencement, Convocation).
  • Identify student learning needs; propose solutions to address needs.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and FERPA privacy standards.
  • Perform any other job related functions as assigned by the Associate Provost/Dean of SEHHS.
  • Complete ACOTE related documentation, including annual reports, interim reports, and self-studies as required. Oversee ACOTE/other accreditation agency site visits.
  • Supervise all OT full time, part time, and adjunct faculty.
  • Hire and orient new adjunct and full-time faculty for each academic year and overseeing course content.
  • Oversee the clinical and didactic education for the OT program.
  • Review and update all assessment plans for the MOT program.
  • Review all course evaluation and other available outcome data (e.g. student satisfaction surveys, portfolios, employer or internship feedback) and incorporate findings into assessment plans.
  • Attend to departmental administrative duties as they arise.
  • Participate in summer admissions activities and events as requested.
  • Review departmental syllabi, especially student learning outcomes and any changes resulting from core curriculum revision.
  • Review student learning outcomes to ensure outcomes are consistent with accreditation standards.
  • Develop schedule for MOT program.
  • Oversee orientation for incoming MOT students.
  • Annual review of curriculum; develop strategic plan.
  • Update MOT student handbook (as necessary).
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Attend trainings as required.
  • Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned by the University.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold a doctoral degree in occupational therapy or related health care field.
  • Have a minimum of 8 years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy.
  • Administrative experience including, but not limited to, program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation and budgeting.
  • Scholarship of application as well as of teaching and learning.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the post-secondary level.
  • Hold a professional licensure in the state of Massachusetts appropriate to the field.
  • Be certified active and in good standing by NBCOT.
  • Have a strong clinical background in physical, cognitive, and/or other areas of general rehabilitation practice.
  • Possess strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and within FERPA and HIPPA guidelines.
  • All new employees must complete the FERPA, and Anti-Harassment online trainings within 15 days of employment
  • Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Must successfully pass the online safe Driving Course and driving record check at time of hire and annually thereafter.

You must have a valid driver's license and must successfully pass the online Safe Driving Course and driving record check at time of hire and annually thereafter. Additionally, you must report any driving offense, on or off company time, which causes a loss, suspension, or any other change in your license status. You must report this change within one business day of the offense. You can report this change to the Human Resource Department or your direct supervisor. Failure to do so can lead to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
